Emmanuel Levinas, a critic of Liberalism: liberal state's "worried conservatism" and "reason of war".

Pablo Ríos Flores

Abstract

The present paper's objective is to analyse Emmanuel Levinas' critical thoughts on liberalism. This analysis will focus on two conceptual axes present in Levinas' arguments: liberal state's "worried conservatism" and "reason of war". Based on these two main ideas a critical interpretative model will be articulated on the foundations of liberal sociability. This model is valid even today.
